Serena's inspiration comes from happy childhood memories of bucket and spade, ice-cream and laughter, and overall activities of times past. As such, she has often been referred to as a 'Happy Lowry!'
This collection has come to be known as the 'Salad Days Collection'. From an early age she has developed a great love of drawing little houses and people and was incomplete without felt tip, biro and sketchpad.
Her paintings are intended to be just a memory of the town and not an accurate photographic record. The scene gives the impression of encompassing the whole town as if painted from above from a seagulls view. The end result is intended to be more interesting and attractive without losing the atmosphere and essence of the town.
